Nirvana fans are the worst
"Period.
1. This dude is not a musician, he is nothing more than a record industry marketing gimmick.
2. Anyone who tells you he changed the face of "music" has no fuckin clue what they are talking about. He did nothing but change main stream pop music and how to market and gimmick bands. He didn't influence blues, metal, jazz, classical etc. etc.
3. Anyone who tells you he didn't "want the success" doesn't realise that he was full of shit and just working a gimmick. Please, who agrees to go on MTV or be in these magazines? You don't want the success don't fuckin go and put out another CD or do all this mainstream publications, he wanted the success but he just wanted a gimmick to milk. Also, he had enough money to start a new life and he chose not to, so fuck him.
4. Nirvana would've never been so popular if Cobain would've been good looking. PERIOD.
5. Nirvana appeared like that because with their "attitude" plus Cobains appearance, were a better option than other bands so the fat cats back there could make money. I mean, they were a punk band at the beginning.
6. Cobain being a hero, demonstrate that most of the youth (35 years old or younger) in the western world, belongs to the "pathetic ignorant losers that need heroes" category.
7. Even if they say that is not true, young women and teenage girls like good looking guys with guitars. Even if they are nothing but shit with the guitar and even if they have nothing intelligent to say (Cobain's fifth category contemporary pseudo Nihilist ideas for example)"
God Bless this man.
Although Nirvanas music isn't 'bad', it is certainly overrated and alot of people are really tired of hearing about how Cobain is an 'imortalized god of the music industry.'
People need to realize that in order to properly rate a band, one needs to understand what overrated and underrated actually mean. TO many die hard Nirvana fans think that the band is instantly underrated if they think the music is good and their neighbor doesn't. It has nothing to do with music quality (and as a side note, Nirvana should be greatful for this as they never produced anything that was above average. Don't get me wrong, an artist can produce good music that is low quality, and vice versa) it has everything to do with what came out of their existance, whether it be new bands that become successful themselves, or a change in the music industry. For example, alot of people say that the Beatles are overrated. These people are idiots. The Beatles are the standard by which all other bands are "rated". Therefore, it's impossible to "overrate" them. Now for the fun part.
Nirvana changed music. YAY. I admit it, its true. They took everything that had anything to do with 80's rock (Obvious GNR reference here) and killed it off. This isn't their fault however, they just made music they liked and it resulted in people putting down their 80's rock. This however does not place them high on the 'ratings' because rating a band can only happen 5 or 6 years AFTER the band stops existing. SO what did Nirvana actually do? Musically they were not very talented and its obvious that the majority of their songs are created from some sort of template. When Cobain pussed out and shot himself in the face (eventually someone would have done it, so its good he got it out of the way for us) where was Nirvana? Nowhere. When Nirvana died, grunge died. They were a life support system for a trend. After Nirvana, what came out of them? Nothing. The majority of bands that existed after Nirvana arn't influenced by Nirvana, they are influenced by the bands that spawned Nirvana or by other 90's bands that actually created music that was popular among different people (unlike Nirvana, which only produced music for 13 year old girls who wear corsets to school and paint their faces with makueup). This is because Nirvana is not on the same timeline as all other bands. They were an offshoot, an experiment. Had Kurt not killed himself, the world would have shaken Nirvana off like a bad case of flees.
So they changed how music was, they created alot of depresso music that was popular at the time only because there was no competition. Had Cobain killed himself a few years later, Nirvana would have been blown out of the water by Mellon Collie and the Infinate Sadness. When Nirvana threw in the towel, nothing was created out of them. In fact, the exact opposite happened. MTV realized they were going in the wrong direction and any band who sounded remotly close to nirvana that came along were canned. MTV opted for bubble-gum music and pop rock. A complete 180 of what Nirvana created. SO technically Nirvana ENDED an era of music. They ended 80's rock, they started grunge rock, and also ended grunge rock. They did nothing for the music world.
SO although they produced what some people say is 'good music'. Nirvana isn't the best band to ever exist. They are extremely overrated based on what they did or created and alot of people are really fucking tired hearing 20-somthing-year-old-crybabies exclaim that Cobain is their 'god' and they 'totally know what he was going through.' FUCK YOU, you don't know anything. Stop pretending that you matter and that somehow Nirvanas music keeps you going in life. If you truly believe that, you should just give up and die because eventually the world won't even know what Nirvana is. Seriously. It would do the world a favor.
