Update.

It's been another reasonably uneventful week at la casa de vamp. Been for a few good bike rides, shuffled round like a zombie for a few days and managed not to get ill as the thousands of others in my sphere of influence seem to have done.

Has anyone ever had a period of losing all dexterity and skill you know you've still got? Nothing to do with illness, more like just "becoming crap and clumsy". I'm fairly sure 'altzheimers' is still a few years off. Between pouring boiling water out of the kettle onto my arm, dropping a bag of frozen veg down the cellar steps and knocking my motorbike over onto the flags, its been an odd few days. I maybe need more sleep. That might fix things... Only I seem to type with a little more flair [haha] during the witching hour and beyond. As you can tell, its LOVELY and sunny at the moment. smile

I hope all my online buddies are doing fine and not suffering from any lurgy.

Got a decidedly unnecessary 'dressing down' by some loser from a graphic design agency. He said from the work I emailed him, he had more talent for design and game graphics than I did and his job was to answer the phones. I'll not go into the "whys and why fors", but lets just say he got a trademark torrent of verbal which would make Bernard Manning turn in his grave! mad

I discovered an abandoned railway station yesterday. No lines to be seen anywhere & completely surrounded by dense thickets and saplings. The place looked positively magical in the autumn mist. The place must have been shut in the mid 60s (thanks Dr Beeching!). The platforms are intact and there's even glass in the windows hidden behind the ivy. It looks like a 'fairytale cottage' in the woods. Astonishing! I'm no 'train enthusiast' by any means. (No-ones built a good looking train since the 30s) I love the architecture and design of early railway buildings. I have no idea what the station is called or what town/village it served. Its just nice to see nature can claim back a region once called the most polluted area in all of Europe. It will definitely feature on a few more of my MTB routes. The building and line are pretty early and date back from times where to outdo your competitors, your stuff had to look more beautiful than your rival's. What amazing place we would live now, if that philosophy was applied right up to today? With all the technology and computer rendering techniques at modern architects disposal, why can't we use concrete and steel to a 'VISUALLY PLEASING' effect? Im no luddite, but I know the shapes which are most relaxing on the eye and they certainly aren't blank featureless cubes!

Anyway, I'm off to see my friends in Widnes, since 'tis a birthday do I must attend!

Before I go, I was wondering if any of you still harboured childhood dreams and ambitions which no amount of 'cold hard reality' has dampened. Say for example, you asked a 6 year old version of me what I would most like to be when I grow up, I would say an ASTRONAUT. Predictable yes. BUT, if you ask me now I AM 'grown up' [snigger!] I would still say an ASTRONAUT... Nobody is going to crush that childhood vision of owning a bubble shaped moonbase. Its only a matter of time... Anything I achieve down here is purely to gain me enough capital! If any of you fancy coming to live with me, I have only one rule, cash/money is invalid up there. The currency is "moon rock". If you don't like the rule, then you can just stay here, can't you! wink

Take care of each other. I will most likely be updating this journal sometime around monday or tuesday. xxxxx xxxxx biggrin
