AH.. Its good to be back.
I was speaking to some foreign students who told me pretty much every city in the Uk is the same. True, this is a REALLY small island but there are some subtle but noticable differences. The character of the buildings and people varies if you are prepared to look closely..whatever Im sure it happens in most countries, only I could tell clearly manchester has a much more commercial manner than even Edinburgh or glasgow.
Just a quick note.. 4 days in the company of a lovely girl has made me realise how quiet my home is. I hear EVERYTHING magnified by 4. The gentle symetrical breathing pattern next to you and the rustle of the bedclothes. When its not there you can hear silence. Damn, the fans in this computer are loud!!! biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin v78xxx

Home-dump, heh smile There's a meet up on Friday 18th for Learoy and Asha's birthdays. I believe it's at Jilly's Rockworld with pubbing beforehand.

The foreign students probably first notice that every city has Starbucks, McDonalds, Superdrugs and so on, plus the usual array of Firkin, Wetherspoon, O'Neils and other chain pubs. From a quick glance seeing all that gives an veneer of sameness. Same as yourself I've never had this problem either.

right with you on that one, there's nothing louder than the quiet of the house when you're used to somebody else being around...

I kinda agree with Abs on this, Bill Bryson pointed out the same thing... unfortunately everywhere is turning into Anytown UK with all the chains and so on. I think it's only the people with a modicum of intelligence who can see beyond the generic facades and into the original chracter of a place beneath the neon and plastic....
