saturday I looked at an artist's live/work loft in south seattle amongst the ruins of the industrial giants. in the building are woodworkers, painters, glassblowers, designers and photographers.

all the artistic inspiration has led to the start of multiple projects: massive drawings, photographic explorations, long-overdue framing projects

diamond sake in the gullet, apple and fennel salad on the way.

Ugh! Friend me! I really enjoyed your comments in my journal, and as I peruse your profile and your own journal I'm seeing loads of stuff we are both into. The first one being...I just got studio space in Toronto in an historic district that was a derelict film haven until a few months ago when a developer bought the entire property (there are dozens of buildings -- it's like a turn of the century industrial village!) and are now renovating it for use as a retail/artist/gallery/swank spot. Artscape (the non-profit arts organization, I'm sure they're in the US as well) leased an entire building and my business partner and I got a retail/work studio spot on the ground floor. We also invited a glass artist who makes insane flame worked beads and jewellery to share the space (we're called Fishbowl Studio), and we're just now in the process of building the interior... finished the heavy duty reno's last week (*whew!*). There's a whole bevy of artists in the building, including furniture makers, textile and fibre artists, another goldsmith (who I went to school with and he's such a straight laced dud -- fucking painted his hundred year old plus cool concrete floor with grey flat paint and then RAG ROLLED on top of it. If that doesn't just sum it all up, I don't know what does. Sheesh.) anyhow, it's going to be awesome! My partner's hubby is an industrial designer so he's designed the interior (with our very anal retentive input) and we're creating the most amazing atmosphere, using aspects of the historic distillery and our love of good modern design. It's not a live/work space though, I still need to find a place to live next month as I'm about an hour outside of Toronto at the moment. (moved back in with the 'rents to get my shit together, you know, divorce crap.)

Eeek, I feel like I've made a total ass of myself with my verbal diarrhea here, but I think you "get it". Diarrhea back on me! Tell me all about what it is YOU do...

And, ah, your compliments on my photo are sooooo incredible, I'm completely flattered and in awe of that vibe you describe those ladies with. Thank you.
