I also find that caffeine is excellent for insomnia. Five cups of coffee works and I can often stay up all night just from a carton of Ben & Jerry's NY Chocolate Fudge. The fat content slows the absorption and it's kind of a slow-release thing. It has the special added benefit for those of us envious of our relatives, the whales, that with enough of this stuff you can start to resemble a whale. I no longer eat it often because Greenpeace offering to help me find the ocean got tiresome and embarassing.

Don't you have spiders in NZ? I haven't seen a deadly spider or snake in more than 20 years, but I don't invade their territory either. I live in inner suburban Melbourne so it would be like seeing a rattlesnake in New York city. You are more likely to come across them in Australia as you head further north, drop over sometime.
OK, enjoy the gym and the food.
