My son went to Washington DC yesterday with his school. Dam, I wish when I was in the 8th grade I could have done that. It is called the "Close Up" program and it is such an oppertunity I cannot understand how anyone would not let there kid go if they can afford it. He left Sunday morning and will be back Thursday.
They are going to Philidephia(Independence Hall) and The Capitol, and The Smithsonian.
I think this is a great program to show kids what our country is about and not just read about it in a book and just look at pictures

i did that trip when i was in 8th grade, but there was no structure at all, they just turned us loose. we of course didn't go see shit. i wish i would have really taken advantage of the opportunity, but i was 13 ya know
