I, much like you, enjoy War Films. The thing that troubled me the most was an inaccurate depiction of characters and embellishment for the sake of monetary gain. Recent works like Saving Private Ryan and The HBO series Band of Brothers got it right when they portrayed the personalities of Military Training and World War. These I cant speak of these first hand of course but have enough military experience and have discussed the accurately and viewed these in the company and then discussed these works with WW2 veterans.
Jarhead does a good job of depicting the fog of war. The uncertainty, monotony and insanity of waiting. The chaos and arduous nature of combat. The hardships encountered. It misses the sprit of the Military. Its a self-serving Hollywood Film.
