My coworker got a call from a social worker this morning. Apparently her niece tested positive for drugs shortly after giving birth.

She's been on the phone frantically since then trying to arrange things. This woman has a thirteen year old and an eleven year old and she's just agreed to take a two day old child and a four year old to prevent them from being separated and going to foster care.

I'm calling every single person I'm related to and thanking them for being normal as soon as I get home.
