I was just reading about free will in a book called "The Moral Landscape". It is interesting to consider how many of our actions are driven by chemical impulses and spontaneous ideas that pop into our head. How many times have we done or said something and immediately thought afterwards, "Why did I do that?" This seems to happen even more frequently in stressful situations.

The true object of skepticism may be to get us out of our heads and into the world. This is not to say that the world of ideas is unimportant, but rather it is always incomplete. We must head into the world each day looking for something that does not fit the patterns in our head.
