oh ye old fourth of july. i'm torn.
in some ways, america is a great nation. my parents were poor when they were kids, both of em worked their asses off, my mom in school, my dad in the mines, and now are doig fairly well. I see that as the "american dream" in action.
but in some ways, which, right now, seem to far outnumber the good things, we are not the best of nations. our system is inherently unequal, and in so many different ways. race, gender, sexuality, and more and more, political alliace.
our leader invoking the name of god in one turn, and blatantly judging others as inferior on the next turn.

can't possibly be right.

I think, that we as a nation, have lost the pride we had in work. we look for the easy way through things, instead of forging along, working hard. blue collar didn't used to mean dumbass redneck, it used to mean hard work.

there's right and there's wrong in the country, but in a lot of ways it truly is "the land of opportunity"

i'll fly my flag, the one with the big ass peace symbol where the stars should be, i'll fly it today.
