=====================thing. About the Gods: Zeus, Apollo, Athena, and whomever else exists in Roman and Greek Mythology. Where did these come from? They are simply "the gods believed in by the Romans and Greeks", but what 'flicker' of truth is there to any of it? I'm sure people back then were capable of the same skepticism that we are today. So what was their 'excuse', if you will, or reason for believing?
to ask why is to delve right into serious stuff.. Of course to ask why, is to ask why do Catholics believe? well, wow, for love, security, cuz they really believe it, because it's written, etc...
So the same for those ancient civs?? But, see, they would have needed the same reassurance of its umm veracity(?) as we do... Yet they REALLY believed it.... I asked my Western Civ teacher in school, if the memory of these Gods as Idols of worship, was not Modern Fabrication and Construction... but she said No, they really believed it....
Was it really a belief more in their country? Which is where their allegiance really laid?
My hidden point is, I wonder if there really was a genetic manipulation, as implied in the Bible....... "men of reknown", and were these really giant people... 10=15 ft. tall? I heard on the radio that a human as large as some cartoons and myths would imply, wouldn't survive, due to the weight of their innards and organs--that is gravity would destroy them---kinda weird I thought.
Imagine human-monsters, with one tooth the size of your fist, and with screams so terrifying and awful that you'd cover your ears in terror!!! now I'm just thinking of a hollywood movie... So awesome....Now I'm talking Sci-Fi by the way... A movie "explaining" the origination of Giants thru genetic manipulation, dark creatures--goblins, trolls, witches, etc... and humans. A world where which didn't think of itself as "advanced", but merely as surviving...
Ten foot hunters with huge arrows, fire , and power over this and that... People feared so greatly would no doubt be thought of as gods... I think it's interesting that even in those days, there was a God above ALL THE GODS... that is they thought that a nameless deity existed above Zeus and the others, but was way in the background...
I do think there's something to this, as odd as it sounds...
Like Islam---I know about 3 sentences worth of what its about--but I know that Mohammed had visions, on which was based the Koran and its religion... and that his wife suggested that he was being deceived by Satan... But here, at least, is some origination or transcendence/inspiration for something new... whether good or bad... So what precluded this romand/greek mythology??
I love the thought of ancient history.... So I asked my friend---who's studying BioChemistry---how old intelligent human history is, or at least would be based on fossil records... and I asked, hundreds of thousands of years? and he said yes...so i wuz like wha??
What the heck? Since when are we that old? Wow.... so technology has had that long to grow? Well then what could have occured during that time?
I mean a MILLION years ago, humans were hunched over, right? but a 100,000 years ago, which is a blink of an eye in evolutionary timescale, we were still human... That AMAZES me. Who knows what they discovered, technologically, because they were humans.. no less, relatively.
