i think i'm becoming a full on audiophile. this afternoon's activities included a full-on, used record store siege, executed to perfection by yours truly. am i an idiot for spending way too much money on various pieces of plastic rather than something that falls into one of the main food groups? probably, but for now i don't care. i planned on making the rounds from Farwell Music, to CD Max (brady st.), followed by The Exclusive Company, and rounding things off at Atomic Records. in reality though i just went to the first two before i'd spent as much as i could possibly bear. get ready fuckers, because here comes the list...

Compact Disk:

Mad Trucker Gone Mad - "s/t" (yeah, i know. the contrast is the only way you can read the text)
they were a band that used to play all the time at The Concert Cafe in Green Bay. however, i never got to see them live. the drummer was also in the band Big, Big Furnace from Wausau. i have every B2F album (which are orgasmic), but never was able to see them live either.

The Murder City Devils - "In Name and Blood"
come the fuck on...it's the Murder City Devils! what do i have to say? this was one of about three albums i was actually looking for when i left the house, the rest were chance finds.

The Murder City Devils - "Thelema"
i'd never even seen this e.p. before and i'll be damned if i let it slip through my grimey little fingers.

Piebald - "If It Weren't For Venetian Blinds It Would Be Curtains For Us All"
i remember my friend guthrie being totally blown away by this one back when i was 15. it took me this long to get around to buying it. i realize now that the song "Location Is Everything" was one that i'd heard and fell in love with way back when, but i never knew who it was by.

American Football - "s/t"
i picked up a copy of the Polyvinyl Records - "Re Direction" comp about 4 years ago, which has the song "Never Meant" on it. i've wanted this album ever since.

The Promise Ring - "Boys+Girls"
they're good. they're local. they're The Promise Ring. as it would turn out, this is ectasia's old copy that i came across.

The Get Up Kids - "Four Minute Mile"
it's not exactly "Something To Write Home About", literally or figuratively, but this disc still owns.

Face To Face - "s/t"
this wasn't what i was originally after. CD Max had copy of The Ataris / Useless I.D. "Let It Burn" split. i purchased it and about 5 minutes later it came to my attention that the case contained a matchbox 20 cd rather than the plethora of pop-punk i was really after. when i took it back i was told that they for some reason had the case, but not the cd. Face To Face was my secondary choice that was of equal value. the first real show that i ever went to though was Hot Rod Circuit, H2O, Snapcase, and Face To Face. this is another one that i should have had a long time ago too i guess.

Vinyl:

Bright Eyes - "Digital Ash in a Digital Urn"
is it ironic to buy something with the word "digital" not once, but twice, in the title on vinyl? i have a bit of a history with Bright Eyes, but have never really listened to much more that what friends had played. when i came across this beauty (on 180 gram no less!), well it was just too damn good to pass up.

Hot Water Music - "Never Ender"
they also had a copy of "Forever and Counting" on vinyl, which is my favorite HWM album. however, i already bought it on cd (twice) and it was marked at something like $18. one thing about this one is that it includes the "Demos" LP, which was a limited edition second disk only available on vinyl with the "Never Ender" record, and only when purchased at shows or via mail order.

so yeah, that's that. fun huh?
