The sounds from the street were muffled, distance made them quiet. The neon signs and the street lamps sparkled in the darkness. The night sky was dominated by a huge full moon, the few stars unable to combat her fierce glow. On the other side of the city, a police car hurtled in pursuit of a felon - it's siren audible at this height in spite of its range, whilst below, in the business sector trade continued with scant regard to the advancing hour.
The building was one of the best known in the city, not the tallest by any means, but still a landmark. The man turned away from the parapet and faced back toward the stairs.
"I can pay you." He said, the was no response.
"We can still settle this like civilised people." Still nothing. He looked around, there's nobody else in sight.
"Hello?"
The attack was swift and deadly. Moving like a steam train, the assailant lunged from the darkness - an out stretched arm hitting the man in his midriff, driving him backwards over the parapet and down to the street below. The impact broke every bone in his body, and elicited screams from the witnesses. High above, the killer was gone, before the first emergency call was made.
It's a start of something - don't know what yet. Wondered if someone could maybe help me with a title, coz I can't think of a damn thing at the moment!
