Okay, internet. It's go time.

I've been working, schooling, reading, and spending time with my friends. I haven't been internetting. It's been really, really great, but I figured that I should at least check up on my various internet journals and pixelated friends. So, how are you?

While cutting carrots for spaghetti about half an hour ago, I noticed that two of the three carrots had splits down the side. Instead of slicing them in half so that they'd cook faster, I cut them into little circles with triangular mouths. Now I have Pac Man- or, dare I say, Chomp?- spaghetti sauce. Awesome!

In other bits of nerdly news, last night at work, my co-worker (and Apple expert/lover) installed his copy of Tiger on my computer, as well as iWork and a smattering of other programs. Free, registered software! Rock. I heart technology.

Tonight, I'll be attending a vegan dinner party at my friend Colin's place. We'll be drinking martinis and generally enjoying ourselves, I should think.

Italian is going well. I sit outside and study vocabulary during the day. It really is like Latin for dummies, but I'm finding the introductory information to be difficult to memorize. It's a lot of, "Mi chiamo Alison.." and other such lines. I familiarized myself more with learning charts of verb conjugations and declension endings, so this seems too.. easy? Right now, anyway. I'm sure things will pick up. The fact that conversational Latin isn't exactly a blossoming field right now has everything to do with why I never learned much in the way of phrases pertaining to social interaction.

I'm more likely to know how to say, "I'm going to conquer you! Be well!" than, "How's your mother?"

The other difference between learning Italian and learning Latin ties in with the nature of their uses, as well. I find it much easier to translate from Latin to English, rather than English to Latin, because why the deuce would anyone want to change their expression from a living language to a dead one, poetry and pretension aside? I'm better at translating from the foreign language to English, and we're expected (and rightly so) to do both with grace and ease.

Grace and ease. Two things I'm working on. Really.

My rooomate (referred to from now on as "Sacha", okay?) is attempting to turn me into a geeky superbeing. We watched Superman a few days ago, and Star Wars: Episode I last night once I came home from work. Tonight, Colin is lending me comic books by Frank Miller.

Do I resist or go, go, go with the flow?

Ah, you know what I'll do. It's what I always do.

Oh, yeah. I'm thinking of going to San Francisco for my birthday this year with two of my best friends ever. July twenty-third. I'll be 21, so I can have my very first drink.. Um. Er. And stalk MC Frontalot. Not kidding on the latter.

Peachy keen, folks. Peachy keen.

No problem. I brood sometimes. I swear you can sometimes see little black squiggly marks coming out of my head. I spent a few weeks in Italy some years back. Since I was traveling alone, I picked up some basic Italian pretty quickly, but I think it is gone now. Strange. I have a nearly photographic memory.

Yeah, well the orchard's going to pay the same as the construction and it's easier (for me, at least) and I won't feel like a tool for not knowing anything.

Tomorrow at work: jackhammering!
