my problem with green day isn't their songwriting - i thought they wrote good songs even back in the pre-dookie days when they were just a berkeley garage band - but it's the lead singer's nasaly-tounge-off-the-soft-pallet-gen-Y-slacker-accent voice that drives me up the friggin wall. i'm really looking forward to the day when that particular tone of male voice is no longer everpresently popular. but when you consider that this tone of voice is what replaced the 1980's Spicoli-surfer-dude voice, i have little doubt it'll be replaced by something even more irritating. wake me up when september ends.
