worst pain ever...i was running barefoot(god knows why) down the sidewalk in my cracked up neighborhood. i landed on the side of my foot, three bones snapped, i tumbled to the ground way too fast, split my kneecap and my chin totally open.

Base Camp is a blog-ish project managing tool, so that you can keep in contact with your clients, while managing a project. I've been following it for a couple of months now. they just launched the service. seems really cool. i'm gonna go sign up for the free evaluation, now.

I had a conversation with a guy on the train about blacks in sci-fi. He said most black dudes he knew looked at him funny when he said he liked sci-fi, so it made it a very solitary pursuit for him.

But there isn't much to bring a minority audience into comics as kids, I don't think. Therefore there are few minority creators. Like you said, any super-hero is just a copy of someone else--the black Superman, etc.

I wonder if race has anything to do with why Marvel can't seem to sustain a successful BLADE series--do the white kids who read Marvel books not want to read about a black character? I think the Crew was recently cancelled, too. Not that any new books at Marvel are doing well these days.

Yeah, I think I picked up two issues of Loui Riel and then decided to just wait until the collection.

On to something completely different, I've been hoping the Evan Dorkin/Dean Haspiel Thing mini-series from Marvel would be collected, but I haven't seen it yet. I might just have to pick up the issues if I can still find them.

You've been reading New X-Men, right? Have you seen the new Silvestri issues? I really dig the whole alternate-future deal, but I don't think I like his artwork anymore at all.

yeah man, '3 days' was the soundtrack to a crazy-ass time in my life. how many times i knocked boots to that song. i can still smell the candle wax....

I remember being in 7th grade and there were two kids in 8th grade who had goatees. So I thought, finally, next year is when I have facial hair! As if that's when it would magically begin for everyone.

I'm having doubts about San Diego. The artist I've been working with doesn't seem to so much be drawing anything, period. Our plan was to have 48 pages of comics done and ready to sell/pitch/etc, and I don't think it's going to happen. He lives in Ohio and we mostly communicate by email, but he seems to have a hard time working unless someone is there looking over his shoulder all the time.

The very best thing about that ebay auction (aside from the fact that I'm not the only one left who knows what a beard is) is that if you look at the bidding history, there were only two--and the winner beat the other dude by one lousy dollar.

As for colonization, think about the state of Africa today. That's colonization where the white folks decided it was too hard, pulled up stakes, and left the place in a shambles that it won't recover from for a long, long time.
