Ok, so I was driving home on Saturday night. I was on the highway and just, you know, thinking random driving thoughts. I thought "I wonder if any dogs wander up around here. Would they just... walk the whole way, or rest every now and then or-" BAM, just as I passed through an area with no lights, a big black dog walked right out in front of my car.

I hit the breaks. Swerving would have risked hitting the concrete median or going down over the hill so I had to just hope for the best. Slowing, slowing. Doesn't seem like I'm slowing fast enough. Screech screech. Shit, I'm going to hit him.

Just as he disappear from view because of my hood, the car stops completely. I don't feel an impact, I don't hear anything. I'm about to get out, just as I see the dog casually strolling along side my car, as if nothing had just happened. I didn't know if I should get out and hug him or back up over him for scaring the crap out of me.

The scariest thing is that if I wasn't specifically thinking about it, I doubt I could have stopped in time.
