Geez, you all do really hate me now, don't you?
Anyway, I got a call back from Allentown today. They decided to go with someone with more experience. The editor was very nice about it. Said that I beat out 22 other candidates, it's just that someone beat me. Oh well, it's kind of like a weight has been taken off my shoulders.
Back to the drawing board.

As for a clean sweep, this goes BEYOND that.
We're talking the almost total devastation of a metropolis. Bloody scary, when you think about it. Even worse, money could have been spent to prepare for this type of emergency. Upgrading the levy system to withstand a class 5 hurriance, instead of the class 3 that they were intended to protect against. The government dropped the ball, and now the constituency of New Orleans (as well as other states) are paying for it.
