Another day, another pile of shit.

Just talked to my advisor at school and due to budget problems, my newspaper will have to go from publishing twice a week to once a week. It really has me torn up inside.

Basically we were putting out twice the paper on the same budget used for once a week. The university gives us X amount of dollars to meet each semester and we met that amount. The problem lies in that we went over our printing budget. Paper costs have risen dramatically over the past year. Tie in the high cost of fuel to deliver the paper and that makes for a budget nightmare.

Don't forget we had to pay the writers for all the added content.

It just irks me because my staff worked so hard to produce something really great and now we can't anymore. It's taking away opportunities from young writers. It's taking away photo clips for our photogs. It's just wrong.

Ours is one of the very few departments that actually brings in money to the university. Whatever money we make goes to cover our costs and the rest goes right back to Temple.

Argh.

This should have been a great week and now it's not.
