Memorial Day
The time we honor those who died in war fighting for their country. Back in 1776 it was probably different. We really needed independence from Britain. We were oppressed people trying to find a land to call our own. We fought for our survival. I am proud that my direct ancestor fought the British and died for what we now call the USA. I am not proud that the USA is in Iraq. I am distressed with every additional death of an american soldier in Iraq. We are not fighting for the right reasons. We are straying from the original concept that to live and not be free is not OK. Well, our soldiers in Iraq are not free to leave. The are not fighting for their country's freedom. They are following the orders from their commanders. Their commanders are following the orders of the president and his posse. And the only reason I can see for us to still be there is based on three letters... OIL. A substance that we had no need for in 1776.
