I'm watching Office Space right now. It reminds me of the days before I was my own "boss" and had to be accountable to someone other than clients. And how much that sucked.
I've been running my own business for just under two years. Previous to that, I'd worked for people who I thought were my friends, until they stabbed me in the back and fucked me over. It had been my dream job - creative, open, fun, and with friends. Well, I thought they were friends. Oh well, I believe in karma enough to know they'll get theirs eventually.
But just the other day, I heard about a job opening at a design firm. Now I'm considering submitting a resume and getting back into the rat race. Of course, this time, I'm going to make sure I'm well compensated and that I'm allowed to keep freelance clients. I don't want to help someone else build their wealth and not build mine in the process.
Funny thing is, my first thought about looking for a job was the fact that I haven't dressed up in so long, I don't know if any of my nice clothes fit. Is that a weird thing to think about? "What would I wear to an interview?" Shouldn't I be more concerned about getting my portfolio updated and together? Hmm.
