Well, we got back from our weekend downstate Monday morning at about five a.m. It was a long, boring, uneventful ride. Ani Difranco was on Friday at the Power center for the performing arts on The U of M campus. The show was good, but Ani dosn't seem to have the same "oomph" that she used to. I think she is probably just tired. She played mostly new songs off her upcoming album. Hammell on Trial was the opening act and he was fucking incredible. So great and I actually got to meet him after the show!!! He was very nice and he signed my c.d. Saturday was a rather boring day, we went to the great lakes crossing mall which was goddamn enormous. I spent a lot of money. More money than I should have. I spent almost one hundred dollars alone in the Sanrio store. I got my picture taken with Hello Kitty so that was fun. We ate at a japanese restaurant called Miyako and it was delicious. Damn delicious. I wish we had a japanese restaurant around here. We checked out of our nasty hotel room early sunday morning to look for the dte energy music theater which was suprisingly easy to find. After that we took a jaunt on down to Ruby Tuesdays for a quick lunch. I thought the food was great, but way overpriced. With full bellies and smiling faces, we made our way up to the theater. We stood in the line for Spiral members for a few hours, got to meet some nice people. Then someone started seperating us from premium members to standard members. My heart started to flutter a bit because I thought that meant we were going to get in for a soundcheck or a meet and greet, but alas we got through the gates and had to wait even more. Karl and I were fucking extremely dissapointed by our seats, I thought being a spiral member I would have received a better seat. I was very very very dissapointed by the venue. Oh well, Peaches came out and was godamned crazy, she ran off the stage through the crowd, all the way through the paviillion up to the lawn area! She rocked like no other and was raunchy and fabulous!!!!! Bauhaus was incredible, very dramatic and over the top. NIN rocked like no other. I would have to say that it was a better show than grand rapids because the lighting and the stage effects were much better, plus no one threw a show at Trent's face during the middle of "Hurt" this time either. But I was so very very close to the stage at the grand rapids show. Overall I would have to say the show was fabulous. I just hate going to shows in such large venues because I pretty much hate humans in large groups. There are always too many drunken wankers who just want to hear the "fuck you like an animal song" or old people who are just season ticket holders. The parking lot was a nightmare after the show, we didn't even budge an inch within an hour and some drunk guy tried to get in the back of our car!!!! I hate drunks with every fiber of my being!!
