Ok, so I have a window to look out of at work. It helps me pass the time and although I cant hear everything, I have a great vantage point and tend to just make the dialogue up as I go along, much like they do on an episode of Iron Chef. Today I watched the true utility of self-maximumization in action. At about 11am this morning, a local artist who has a studio across the street from my office parked in the private lot beside his building. However, his normal spot on the sidewalk was blocked by an obnoxious delivery truck. He parked in an alternate spot and went upstairs.

About 2 hours later, gazed out the window and noticed a familiar green Mercedes blocking in the artists motorcycle. The gentleman got out of his car and starting pacing around the motorcycle, as if he owned it. This continued for about 15 minutes. Then the same guy stood with his arms crossed leaning against a nearby tree, inspecting every passerby. He was gawking at everyone hoping that owner of the bike would return. This carried on for more than half an hour. He did a few doubletakes and then nonchalantly walked back to the bike and without putting up the kickstand, scraping metal against the concrete, struggled and moved it out onto the sidewalk. This codgy old fart was so upset that someone had taken his spot that he moved the guys bike! Its not like there were not at least 3 other noticeable spots open. He then pulled his Mercedes into the now vacant spot and left the bike out in the open. About twenty minutes later, a meter maid approached the bike and printed out a warning because it did have a parking permit.

Then at about 4pm, the artist returned with his girlfriend, to find his bike transplanted and with a ticket/warning. Without hearing his words, I could see he was pissed. He kicked the back tire of the Mercedes and then his girlfriend pulled him back. He then debated leaving a note on the guys car or was planning on keying it (can you blame him?) I couldnt tell. After a few minutes of debating the artist and his girlfriend sped off. I am tempted to park in the guys spot tomorrow, but I dont have a permit or better yet, I should move all of the concrete construction blocks from around the corner into his spot. Then revel in watching the old fucker have a heart attack trying to move them out of the way!

I just could not believe how pathetic it was. And I wonder how Bush and some of these other idiots get elected. People are so caught up in trivial, possessive bull-shit like maintaining the monotony of their day in the form of a parking spot that their ignorance plagues others.

so what exactly are you suppose to be doing while you're staring out the window?

that old man needs to be kicked in the throat. I'm sure the artist will get his.
