Spent most of yesterday watching movies. I'm gonna play movie critic now:
Kill Bill Vol. 2 - Tarantino takes the best aspects of the genres he loves, puts them in his own language and makes movies, reguardless of how long they actually are, that you wish would never end.
House of Sand and Fog - I watched this movie with a friend and as the credits rolled there was silence until he said, "What a bummer". Indeed, this movie is a bummer. Though, it's also an incredibly well acted story (Jennifer Connelly, Ben Kingsley and Shohreh Aghdashloo) about the way our actions affect other people and how we become so self-involved during our lowest times that we forget others are experiencing lows too. So, it wasn't a total bummer, it was also really beautiful.
Clue - A friend recommended this to me and I couldn't believe I'd never seen it before. I was obsessed with the board game in the 80's. Really funny movie with great comic actors. Especially Madeline Kahn, who is so horribly underated.
Godsend - Umm....it had some good ideas. Didn't work for me. The good ideas were mashed up together with bad ideas. It seemed like someone threw it together to make sure it was released while the issue of genetic cloning was still a hot topic. Deniro was great as usual. Rebecca Romijn ?Stamos? looked hot. She's a pretty good actress too. It was a pretty typical "creepy kid with weirdo type powers" movie. The casting was good because the kid looked like an alien.
Fangoria: Blood Drive - It's basically a collaboration of bad student films in the horror genre. I had trouble sitting through it...and actually didn't.....I started playing online poker half way through. There was one about a finger that was alive and there was a zombie musical....I dunno...it sucked. And not in a fun cheesy way....it's just unwatchable. Though, one redeaming thing about the DVD was a little extra that featured Clive Barker displaying his paintings for Arabat. It's always fun to see someone with passion and talent explaining their work without pretensions. He was more like a little kid showing you how he plays with his favorite toys.
