I've recently become a little obsessed with late night black and white on the game show network...due to my constant insomnia. At 4 am every day they air Password and What's My Line. I decided to find out more about the regular panelists on Whats My Line. So I went to the internet movie databse and looked up the show. It turns out all of them are dead. Tony Randall was a guest panelist on this mornings show, so I was watching a TV show where everyone on the show was dead. Kind of strange.
Some interesting things I found out:
Benet Cerf basically built Random House publishing company himself on a shoe string budget.
John Daly was the first reporter on radio to announce the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Arlene Frances suffered from alzheimers all through the 80's, but she appeared on the Howard Stern show in 1991.
The most interesting of all the panelists happened to be my favorite panelist prior to knowing who any of these people were. I always liked Dorothy Kilgallen because she has the cutest tiniest little chin I've ever seen. It turns out, she had quite an interesting life. She was one of the first female crime reporters for a major newspaper. She was also the only woman in an around the world race and came in second. She had an affair with singer Jimmy Ray. And as a reporter, she was one of the few people to interview Jack Ruby. It is thought that Dororthy found out some information about the assasination of JFK. In 1965 she was found dead of an "apparent suicide". All of her notes mysteriously disappeared.
I'm sure no one else finds this interesting....or knew already....I'll stop now.

Shooting is lots of fun, but I think it also gives you a healthy respect for violence and the fragility of human life. You just need to see what one rifle bullet will do to a watermelon to appreciate how close by death is at all times.
