So this tour in Iraq is looking to be much more exciting than the last.
Went for a ride in a Black Hawk over Baghdad the other day. The city looks so much different from the air. On the ground, it's dirty, nasty, cluttered, and generally just shitty. From the air it looks like it could be a normal city. A Ferris Wheel in the background, pools, parks....
It was a short flight, but I hope it's not my last.
The Iraqis are protesting, much like the Egyptians and the Tunisians, but for very different reasons. They are angry that they don't have electricity or sufficient amounts of clean water. With Summer coming fast, it's only going to get worse. The weather is starting to warm up, the cold days and rainy nights are all but gone it seems. I just hope it doesn't rain and get hot at the same time, pretty sure it will be miserable with humidity in 100 degree weather.
The draw down from Iraq isn't a pipe dream. It's happening, and I hope I'm here to help turn off the lights when we leave.
