The Shins w/ D Biddle and Broadcast Oblivion tonight
A good show.
I came in a couple of songs into Broadcast Oblivion, and thought "oh gee, more pop punk" but they totally won me over. The singer, as far as I could tell, only sang "ah" syllables, as in "bah trah trah trah blah sah dah dah snah djah" and his guitar playing was great. High energy, though of course, the indie rock crowd didn't move a muscle.
D Biddle was alright... I spent most of their set outside talking to a cute girl I met, whose name, of course, I forgot to ask. I'm slick like sandpaper.
The Shins were quite good... better than the Built to Spill show I saw the other night, but again I was distracted. A good friend of mine randomly showed up and informed me it was his birthday. "How good a friend can this be" you might wonder "if you didn't know it was his birthday?" Well, he's a great guy, but they don't call him Spooks McKewen for nothing. I've never met anyone so hard to keep track of. We had a good time though, and spent most of the Shins set catching up on life since last we talked. Of course I ended up staying out later than I wanted and drinking more than I should have.
Work should be a real treat tomorrow. Uh... later this morning, that is.
