Despite it being somewhat cold today I think a bike rides is in order-I saw dedication the other day-Despite an interesting soundtrack from Deerhoof and a solid cast the film suffered from disjointed direction and editing. Billy Crudup plays a kid hating children's story writer suffering from severe mental disorders-His illustrator who acts as a buddy father figure passes and the story envelopes into an indie love story with his new illustrator Mandy Moore. Whom he insults rabidly for most of the film.The characters motivations and actions are as schizophrenic as the main guy and despite a couple of ok monologues it left me unenthusiastic. Lowest point Amy Sedaris who has solid billing is on screen for an unfunny minute and a half
