So far I think I've been making pretty good use of my day off. I did laundry, went CD shopping (though my favorite store was closed on account of some big market thingy on Halsted street.* I went to some other stored, but didn't buy anything.
I went to not one, but two of my favorite coffee shops, getting caffeinated and reading a good chunk of my latest book -- Player Piano by Vonnegut, for those of you keeping track at home. Once I finish it I'll start Cattus Petasatus (The Cat in the Hat in Latin!)
I walked around a bit, and I was in such a good mood that even seeing some amazingly stupid things made me smile. Picked up a couple of movies that I'll be watching in a bit.
Right now I'm continuing my recent tradition of cooking myself a yummy yet simple meat-based meal once a week, and enjoying it with some nice wine. (Generally I eat really boring but reasonably healty vegetarian/vegan stuff.) Tonight it's ostrich burgers and some really great Sptlese. Weird combination, I know, but it's working well. And to all the animal lovers out there, I say kill the mighty Ostrich! And for that matter, any animal dumb enough to pull off its own head when it gets its neck caught in the crotch of a tree!
*update: I just noticed that the closed record store even lists the exact CD I was looking for on their web page! Those bastards, I will kill them all...
update part zwei: forgot to mention, the CD I was looking for is the new Holly Golightly.
