Eek! I've worked 19 hours in the last two days! Not that this is anything new, of course. At least this time I'm getting paid overtime, not like my previous job. Grrr.
One of my coworkers, Jesus, went back to Mexico on his vacation, and brought me back a present. (I asked him for a bottle of tequila, but I didn't get that!) He brought me a keychain with the local icon, the Madre Sanctissima de San Juan de Los Lagos. No, I'm not a Christian, but I think that's pretty damn cool.
One of my other coworkers, Gabino, got fired because he didn't have legal documentation to be in this country. He used to work in a cooler for most of the day, and somewhere along the way he developed pneumonia. He died a couple of days ago, in Mexico. I never talked to him much because his English was pretty limited. But I always thought he was a pretty kick ass guy.
Good news and bad news, I guess. So it goes.....
oh, just for the record: I just drank an entire bottle of champagne. And I'm pretty happy with that, right now. Mmmmmm!
