A wise (ie barking mad) friend once told me that the stuff you did on your birthday and on New Year's Eve helped to set up the patterns of the following year to come.
Since NYE is my birthday, I've always taken what he said at face value, and done my best to have as good a day as possible. I don't know if it works, but I'm still trying. Certainly, last year it was a strange and painful day, and it's certainly been a strange and painful year.
However, this year I managed to start the day with a pint of Bucks Fizz, smoked salmon on brown bread, and some truly unhinged porn -- a hardcore sex-inverted mock-up of Clockwork Orange. Utterly bonkers, and yet still bizarrely hot. Viddy well, oh my brothers and sisters, viddy well...
I then went and read fun books for a couple of hours, made a quick sacrfice (of rum, cigar & a bounty bar) to my favourite Loa at a local crossroads, visited Dad in the hospital for a couple of hours (not great Nexus material, but hey), then hung out with various friends in the afternoon and evening, culminating in a great dinner with old pals from way back, and midnight fireworks.
All in all, it was an ace day, so if 2006 is shit, it's not my fault this time.
For those who keep score, my gift tally for Xmas and my birthday this year is, in total: two cheap (ie rubbish but fun anyway) horror DVDs, fifty quid in cash from my father's girlfriend, and a Terry's Chocolate Orange. Hm. Need to work on that, I think...
In other news, World of Warcraft is proving distressingly addictive. Oops!

A Visual Merchandiser does a lot of things, from planning the lay out of the store, to dressing the windows, we also put up all of the posters in store, which we call decor, and dress all the manaquins.... we decide which clothes go where, making sure all the colours go, and it looks good and is easy to shop. All the Visual aspects of the shop! I really enjoy it, its mad at the moment coz we're getting ready for spring and have the sales on.
Are you working on anything good at the moment?
