Ok, I'm officially ready for the ice to go away now. I fell again, landing on the same exact part of my anatomy as before. I think my bruise has a bruise. frown (I have to admit, though, I bet it looked pretty funny). Unfortunately, it's going to be just a little above freezing for our highs, and in the low 20's for our lows, so all that's gonna happen is a little bit of melt and then a re-freezing. <sigh> At least we have power, which is more than a lot of folks around here can say. smile

I've had a lot of wanderlust lately. An urge to just hop in the car (or maybe a motorhome, or maybe just hitch) and go wherever the spirit takes me. I'd need my camera and laptop, and probably a change of clothes, but not much else. Unfortunately (from this perspective anyway), I've allowed myself to get tied down by commitments - to family, to work, to freineds and neighbors, to clients - and too used to creature comforts - a warm bed, 2-3 square meals, wide range of clothing and outerwear options, indoor plumbing, readily available food, ... - to be able to afford to wander in the manner to which I'm accustomed. My needs were simpler once. I sort of miss that (and sort of don't).

A romantic (and short-sighted/stupid) part of me wants to just chuck it all and become a gypsy. Calling only the road my home, squatting where I can, Earning what little money I need by the odd job here or there for a few days, or plying my wares/talents. Does anyone else have these fantasies? I know some of you (Apathy and Lily for two) live that life, and for that I envy you (and feel for you, too). But the rest of you: do you sometimes get the urge to just hit the road, sort of a modern day Jack Kerouac (only in my case with a camera rather than a pen)? Have any of you ever taken a "sabbatical" and done that, or know someone who has?

Someone feed my fantasy! biggrin

And then someone else talk some sense into me. confused blush

<sigh>

Well, enough wool-gathering. Here are a few more ice pictures for your enjoyment.

God knows I want to just pack up and hit the road. But like you said, committments whatever

I hate winter and ice as well.
