Ok, that last post was tacky! LOL I plead exhaustion. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! 
We're in the typical Missouri Spring/Fall weather cycles -- this past Thursday it was close to 70, this coming Wednesday they're predicting snow, and it will bounce back and forth a few more times before it finally figures out how to do winter.
Of course some years it never does figure it out! 
I've been wanting to do some "environmental portraits" recently. This isn't a green eco-thingamabob -- rather it's photographing a person in THEIR native environment. This may be their home or their workplace, or even a constructed "fantasy space." The idea is to use the setting/background to further personalize the portrait and capture the essence of the person. I especially want to do portraits of older men and women (like 75+).
And I really want to display my stuff somewhere. I really really want to open a photo studio/gallery in downtown Columbia, but I just can't seem to make the numbers work. Commercial space downtown leases for about $1 to $1.25 per square foot per month, which is pretty cheap.... but to have an effective photo studio means having a lot of square foots (hard to imagine something like I'm wanting in less than 2,000 square feet).
I really need to do some more research -- most of my numbers are pretty blue sky at this point (a nice way of saying I pulled them out of my ass). 
So what do you think? Can I do it? How should I go about getting better numbers, doing market research, finding appropriate space, etc.? Any ideas about how to recruit people for environmental portraits? C'mon people... feed my fantasy!!

Man...what is with the frosty weather in the morning to the wartm in the afteroon?I t IS suppose to be cold right...or am I missing something?
