Way overdue for an update, but things have been more than a little crazy. Last weekend was "Art in the Park" which took $160 in application and booth fees, countless hours of preparation, 4 hours of setup and teardown and 14 hours of sitting in the sun. For all of that work I got about $430. Pretty sucky, really. And one $370 sale away from disasterous.
Not sure I'll be doing that show again.
My mom is much better -- home with a swollen and bruised arm, but no clot thanks to surgery. She's getting regulated on coumadin (a blood thinner) now.
Our dog is tumor free thanks to surgery, though she's still uncomfortable (surgery was just Friday). In a couple weeks she'll be starting chemotherapy. That's not nearly as tough on dogs as on people, so it shouldn't bother her too much, and hopefully will get whatever cancerous cells are left. The good news was it was a Stage 1 tumor -- all contained within the 3 cm margins they took (she had a LOT of loose skin on her neck -- not any more!) but the bad news was it was Grade 3 -- the most malignant. Prognosis at this point is pretty variable, but this is relatively cheap chemotherapy and, despite her advanced years (13) she has been in excellent health otherwise.
I'm way behind on what I should be doing at work, mostly because I just don't give a damn anymore. My work attitude has gone from bad to totally absent. Something's going to have to be done about that -- either the attitude or the work has to change.
In a week I'll be leaving for Mississippi for a week -- attending a meeting and then shooting with a couple models I know down there. I'm looking forward to that.
And since I'm hopelessly far behind on the bands list, I'll just finish it out. I hope most of you have at least heard of most of these bands...
