What a week of ups and downs -- and it's only Tuesday!
Up: Friday - I shot with one of my very favorite models, and we got some more great stuff.
Down: Friday we discovered a lump on Piebald, our older (13) dog's neck -- big one, too. I called the vet school where I work and made an appointment for her for Monday morning.
Up: Saturday I had a great time shooting with MsJune, and we got some more great stuff.
Down:Saturday night Pie scratched the lump open and it started to bleed. I called the vet and we decided it wasn't necessary to bring her in until Monday.
Up: Sunday I got lots of prints made for the upcoming art show and worked on the display units for it with my wife. Was up WAAAAY late, but got a lot accomplished.
Down: Monday I took Pie in to the vet. Preliminary diagnosis is a mast cell tumor -- not horrible, but not great either. She's scheduled for surgery on Wednesday to take it off, and comes home with me, still dripping blood.
Down: Monday I found out my 87 year old mom is in the hospital with a blood clot in her arm. She'll be transferred to a hospital in Denver (About 1.5 hrs away) for a procedure to deal with it. My oldest brother is heading out to be with her.
Up: Monday evening I get home and see my wife has improved the process for finishing the display units and made great progress. I'm able to help her with it some.
Down: Tuesday morning, Pie is looking awful. Barely moving, shivering with each breath, clearly decompensated. I take her in to the vet again and they admit her into the ICU.
Up: Tuesday my wife decides we really should do the Ujena Bikini Jam, a week in Puerto Vallarta Mexico over Labor Day, with dozens and dozens of pretty girls in bikinis wanting me to take pictures of them. Price comes in cheaper than expected, too.
Down: Tuesday, I hear from the vet around lunch time, and Pie is stable but no better.
Up: Tuesday I hear from the vet again before going home -- Pie is doing much better after some meds. She'll spend overnight in the ICU and then go into surgery tomorrow.
Down: Money is flying out of my wallet. Pie is going to end up costing us probably around $1500. The Bikini Jam will set us back about $2600, and I need to buy some new studio lights, probably around $1800 -- around $6K gone
Up: Call my mom this evening, she's had an angiogram, she's not in any pain, doing well. I talk to my brother and they are waiting on hearing from the doctor -- not sure whether this was just diagnostic, or if they delivered clot-busting drugs through the catheter. He says he'll call me back when he hears from the doc.
Down: It's now 12:30 AM Wednesday, and I haven't heard from my brother. I guess no news is good news, but I want to know what's going on.
I'm feeling REALLY stressed out.
