OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!

We've been doing limericks on the OMP website, and my twisted analytical little brain was marvelling at how versatile a poetic form the limerick is. All that matters are the number of metrical feet (3,3,2,2,3). It can be ANY foot -- even mixed feet.

So this anal-retentive time waster sat down and came up with this mess:

Here's a trick
Oh so quick!
Itty
Bitty
Limerick

Iambic feet are neat
With such a lively beat.
They're never long.
They're here, they're gone.
They really are a treat!

Trochee feet are taunting
They can be quite daunting
Stop and start feet;
Tell-Tale Heart beat!
Really they're quite haunting

Dactylic feet are quite musical --
Make the whole thing sound quite Seuss-ical
I have to grin when these
Sillies begin.to tease -
They are so dog-gone amuse-ical

The amphibrach foot is a riddle
When we with our meter do fiddle.
We anchor our feet on
The stress like a piton,
But that's just the "man in the middle"!

Now the anapest metrical feet
Have a jarring and trouble-ing beat.
When they stop so abrupt
It feels oh so corrupt
That you're really not sure they're complete!

Then there's chopped anapestic tetrameter
That give limericks such a diameter.
They're so big and so bulky
It can make you quite sulky
Just to find the right stressing parameter

Oh the tertiary paeon is a queer duck.
With it's four-syllabic foot it makes your ear stuck.
It's got way too many beats in
Every line that it completes in --
It's a gross and ugly meter. What an ear-fuck!
