So I was going through my stuff trying to find something else to throw away. It's become such a ritual with me to try and throw away something every day. I hate having a bunch of shit that I tote around for all the dumbest reasons. I don't have much, but only because I started this process in the first place.
Anyway, I looked through two year books of mine. One was when I was in Kindergarten and the other one was for first grade. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw in the year book from my first grade year what was on the front page. It had a list of about 10 or so 'things about myself'. I filled out three that year and this is what they were.
Name: Paul (written wrong, scratched, corrected)
Favorite food in the cafeteria: pizza
What I want to be when I grow up: nothing
It's funny because I can't remember how long I've felt like that, but apparently I knew it when I was only in the first grade. Why try to accomplish anything in life other than being yourself? Apparently it's something most people need to focus on because the people who don't examine themselves often enough, from what I see, are the really fucked up ones. Well, unless they just lack will power.
Do you have evidence of what you wanted to be when you grow up from the 1st grade?
(In case anyone was wondering, until I was 11 I was living in IL between Peoria, Pekin, and Washington. I could list the schools I went to, but I'll just note one. Keller Elementary. I'm not sure on the spelling of that though and I'm too lazy to pull out the yearbook.)
