What is it to be caring? What are some of the qualities of being caring? I see that it's something that we do - a way of being where we put our love, intimacy and tenderness in action. It brings us closer to ourselves and each other, softening the edges that get created through our strategies of self-protection.

There are so many ways to express our caring for one another, even for so- called "strangers".

How caring are you being? Are you caring enough to stop and breathe in the acknowledgements you've been receiving? When you go "gaga" over somebody else, are you caring enough to notice that you're seeing a bit of your own light? It's a golden opportunity to identify the projection and take it back.

Take notice if you've stopped caring about filling up your inner reservoir, or if your caring has waned. It's what most people do in life: They start off strong and then three weeks or so into whatever project they may be working on, they're suddenly 80% there. As time goes on, instead of gaining momentum, they lose it because they stop caring. You can avoid this pattern by making sure each and every day that you receive as much as you give, and, visa versa, that you give as much as you receive.

What could you do this week to show how much you care about someone else? And what actions could you commit to in order to extend sweet caring to yourself?

Be on purpose this week. Notice when you're taking a shower and washing your body whether there is any caring in it, or are you just completing a task? Take it upon yourself, whether brushing your teeth, combing your hair, making a cup of tea, or preparing to leave your house in the morning, that you do it with awareness and real caring. Each time you take a bite of food, notice that you're nourishing your body. When someone says something nice to you, breathe that in. When you put your clothes on, use that time to find something great about your body and to appreciate how the fabric feels on your skin. And then notice if by the end of the week people are being more caring with you.

You'll see that it will take no extra time. But it does require that you put your attention where it will serve you and feed you rather than operating on automatic pilot - thinking about the future and dwelling in the past.

Ready? Go!
