my new openness seems to be inspiring quite a change in my environment. instead of rushing through when i went to buy milk for work today, i stopped and chatted with one of the girls. it took me a few minutes to realize she was flirting with me.... usually, i'm so distant and shy that only a few brave souls will bother. i've found that, now that i've begun to ask questions of people, they open up a lot easier. people that i have seen in my workplace, for 2+ years, but never had any meaningful conversation with, suddenly start talking to me like i'm their friend when i ask them one small question about themselves. i'm amazed, and intrigued. i want to try this with everyone; my shyness still gets in the way a little, but i'm sure i can overcome it.
