i've been reading "the catcher in the rye." it's my first time. i keep having to remind my self what an outrageous book this would have been when it was released.
holden caulfield is an amazingly realistic character. this book kinda has the same appeal as "the wonder years" and "freaks and geeks," but for an even older generation.the awkwardness of growing up and looking for what's real while being surrounded by a world that's phony by and large, good stuff. certainly not a new topic in this day and age, but somehow it still feels fresh.

I know what to do in theory, but in practice, meeting people is one of the hardest things for me to do.

That's what I've found too. I've met all sorts of great people here, but most of the ones I'd like to know better aren't anywhere near me. It's frustrating.
