i hope everyone had a good holiday weekend, time off from work, school, etc. i spent thanksgiving with my parents, it was nice and mellow. not much else to say about it.

i think i'm burned out on going to shows. i've seen so many in the last few months...i need a break. i can spend my time/money elsewhere.

so i randomly met this guy at a pub on saturday. we start talking and he invites me to join a band he's putting together. they'll be playing tunes by Fela Kuti, known for founding the Afrobeat genre, which is basically a mix of funk and traditional african music. i'm pretty stoked about this. the seredipity of it all is kind of boggling, not to mention that meeting new people randomly is pretty damn rare for me. i still have to take a look at the music and make sure i'm not out of my depth, and they won't even start practicing until january, but i'll let you all know how it works out.
