Spent all day in Houston yesterday. Left at 04:30AM and returned at 08:30PM. . . it was a long ass day. But, I was finalizing my negotiations for a new job with a former employer and things went splendidly! I should have a complete comp package worked out in the next three weeks and be able to give notice. Right now, this is pretty much the only place I can post this news - as anywhere else I put it might be picked up by peers or co-workers - but I'm too excited to say nothing about it!
It's a time of tumultuous changes in my industry and I'm tired of doing the same thing over and over. Because of the changes, finding and negotiating a job was a challenge but well worth it. I have been working on his negotiation since May '09 and it's taken almost a year to finalize. In a way, I miss the younger days of applying for a job and interviewing - it was simpler. But, the ability to negotiate exactly what you want in your job has significant perks. Although it strings out the process for months it allows you to be much happier with the results.
