still a bit groggy from heavy sleep last night. boy, i needed it, what a long week it's been.

starting the day with a favorite record of mine:



there's always discussions amongst fans of this band as to what is their best record - some people like the early, faster stuff - some people like the polish of Warehouse, their swansong - but in my mind, Zen Arcade is tops. it helps that it destroyed and then reconstructed my teenage brain back in the late eighties, i imagine.

i think "Chartered Trips" is one of my favorite songs ever, actually - it captures this blend of hope, yearning, and helplessness that's some sort of personal intoxicant for me.

i should go get some juice or something and really start my day - should be a good one, as all that is planned is meeting up with FritzKD and doing some record shopping, some neighborhood loitering, some good eating, and a good share of beer drinking...
