I am back in the swing of things after my brain took a strike. Its been a busy week so far.
The volunteer work that I do for the 'hood rats is getting to be alot of hours. We had a meeting monday night to view our new website for the activities we run at the community centre and to discuss winter programs and it went three hours!!!! Thats too long haha.
I met the two moms who will run the mom and tot prgram that I started but couldn't facilitate myself. I came up with the idea as its needed here , the closest ones are 30 minutes walks and I know how isolating it can be to be alone with little ones all day for days on end in the winter here, stuck home alone in snow.
After meeting them however I am so glad that I won't be attending it. The vibe I got was one I have seen before in playgroups and online mom groups. The gossipy nature is unbecoming. The "nicknames " they gave some other moms that attended such as "grumpy mom" and such I can do without, fuck they would prolly call me the "tattooed mom"...learn the names bitches. I can see that in private they would be prone to finger pointing and other negative shit like comparing who got theirs vaxxed and who didn't breast feed long enough so on and on....
Even though I have done all the things that these moms have , to keep up with their set standard of what is good mothering, I feel the need to speak up for others who have chosen different paths. I hate the notion that there is only one way to raise a nation of individuals and it is NOT my place to assess who is doing it "right" or not. I can only try my best and support others who are trying to do the best they can.
it is supposed to be a support group and a fun playdate kinda group and I will never go because I can see thats it would be too filled with scrutinizing gossipy moms. I can't take the scrutiny that if one of mine disbehaves that I will be deemed a "bad mom"....
but all in all I am glad it is up and running, for those moms who need it, I wish I could get over my bullshit and go but at least it is there for others who maybe fit in better with "normal society"
ohh and i go in to get tattooed all afternoon tomorrow..........I rock.
