My friends here rock, so supportive and sweet! I heart you all...
I had a couple of shit days where I just felt depleted, diminished and needed something to fill me back up. I tried to write but never have a moments peace and usually when I get into a funk I draw or paint but lately I have found that more frustrating than productive . I definately needed something to replenish my soul but felt sooo tired (or depressed) that ouldn't think of anything that didn't require too much effort.
Back in the day (starting at about 16 ) I used to go see live music ALOT. Mostly punk shows or Ska or whatever I liked at the time. It was always fun and met alot of like minded people. Then in my mid twenties I kinda stopped going to those type of venues and got into the chemical rave/ gogo scene. Since acheiving sobriety 4 years ago (from chemicals) I knew I wouldn't go back to the gay bar/ rave scene ever again...and didn't know where I fit in anymore socially...
I decided last night to hire a siiter and take the old man out to a local to see some live bands play, I knew there were three and one of them I liked so as a lark I MADE him take me and it was our first time out together since June. (sounds romantic kinda until I invited my S.I.L due to her lack of a life hahah) anyway it was good times. The middle band rocked and I enjoyed it alot, then I ran into an old friend that used to be the drummer for Helix, a canadian rock band that was kinda big in the late eighties but was never my scene. Leanne (Sis in law) was over the moon about meeting him and he is such a sweetheart, he used to chase me back in the day but I always blew him off as that wierd drummer guy...hahah anyway seeing him play last night was wicked, I LOVE to see my friends do what they are passionate about . Most of my old friends are artists, tattooists, painters, clothing designers, dj's, musicians and there is something magical and life affirming about seeing them do what only they can so well.
My muse is back, I will go on and today even though hung over a bit and uber tired from the whopping 4 hours I got..I feel the need to carve out some time for me somehow and create something, anything...
support your local bands and artists.... I feel like I got my soul replenished just a little whch is what I needed, I needed to see that there is life beyond these walls or the park...

I miss supporting the local bands..I was a HUGE local band girl when I was younger..now I'm so out of the loop..I have no idea about any of them anymore..It kinda sucks!
