We're meeting a possible new player for our Friday night rolemaster group tonight. The gm interviewed him earlier this week and we get to check him out tonight to see if he fits with us. Of course we're at that juncture of the campaign where things could be really nasty tonight. Last week while my character was on point she was engulfed by this revolting...

It's sunny and lovely out today. That used to be enough to make me happy.
I had a weird moment this morning while reading the New York Times. There was an article on how seals were overrunning this San Diego beach. The article ended with a quote from a tourist watching the seals:
"Look at that!" said Gina Montefusco, a visitor from Washington, D.C. "This...

I'd guess a lot of people are living pretty animal-exclusive existences nowadays. Sadly, I believe many people are not "seeing wildlife in the wild" anymore, since they see Chemlawn-manicured golf-greens-as-nature everywhere around them.

Problem is when I'm not looking... I'm really NOT LOKKING and totally oblivious. I go through these phases where I get really insecure and just can't be bothered.
I just went and nerded out to Word Play. It's a movie about The New York Times crossword puzzle, its editor Will Shortz, crossword fanatics and The Annual American Crossword Tournament.
Gosh I love the NY Times crossword. After posting on a few journals, I'm going to go do a NY Times crossword puzzle. *sighs happily*

I love the NYT Book Review.

Man, what a dream job that fellow has!! I'll have to check out the movie...
So I've been watching more tv lately. I should really say I've been watching some tv lately. I've been watching CSI, some Criminal Minds, Miami Ink and.... Rockstar Supernova!
I think I've been watching too much Rockstar Supernova. I went to YouTube last night and caught up on all the reality episodes I missed. Then I went to bed.

I saw your comment to llouys about wifi cells. Technophobe that I am, that meant little to me. But the article about yoga mats...
sunfeather:
I don't know what any of this means apart from CSI.
Last night, I dreamed that I was really tired, but then someone talked to me about particle physics and I woke up.
Today I failed to talk to a girl in a bookstore who was wearing a denim mini skirt and little gold pumps (I don't actually know what pumps are, but I like saying the word) and who was buying books by Michel Houellebecq, Haruki Murakami, the Eastern European thing about a man and his penguin, and something else cool. Anyway, the point is:
Also today, in the parking lot of the grocery store/gym, I had the thought that you were my first proper friend on this site and, look, here we are still.

I think "don't cry over spilt milk" had more to do with loss in yesteryear. Now it's a warning about not lamenting having to clean up a mess. Sad but possibly true.

Heh, I think it deff. means what you said, and I think it also means what all these lovely people above me thought it meant!

Not to mention the smell of turning milk, if you miss a spot.
Woke up, looked at the clock and said fuck it. I forced myself to sleep in 'til noon, a feat not accomplished in some time. I stripped my bed and piled up some linens, walked downstairs to use one of the washing machines and bumped into the dude on the second floor who always uses both machines simultaneously. He'd just started them up. *sigh*

Well, I did manage to get a buttload of laundry done, including the sheets, but it is too hot to sleep upstairs anyway so the clean sheets will have to wait until it cools off to at least 40C. I'm sure you've heard about Surly's troubles but I tell you, he's a wimp ... it was 48C here on Saturday and I'm sure it was only about 46C for him!
And I have just done the impossible at work, so I suppose I am going to bed now. On the couch. One day I will get to enjoy the clean sheets, like maybe by November.
Hope you had a lovely weekend and continued to get lots done.

I starting working out regularly again this week. I've went out and bought a bunch of healthy food, which I've been cooking to avoid the nasty take-out monster. I want to lose 70 pounds, but I don't want to diet. To that end I'm just trying to make moderate lifestyle changes. Wish me luck.

Thanks Trixel, that means alot. I know the work will come in time but the waiting game sucks, and so does having little money.
sunfeather:
How to lose weight: eat less and take more exercise.
70 lbs sounds like quite a lot, however...
Those big bears in your pictures are super cute.
I have been thinking of you this week. I have been thinking, some day I will have to go to Montreal to interview Maurice Dantec or to attend a conference or some such, and when that day comes I will travel across to the prairie states and I will visit with trixel. That is what I have been thinking.

I went to a girls' shopping day at a mall yesterday. I bought underwear, pjs, a soapdish and an eggtimer. I've decided I like hanging out with friends, but I do not like shopping. I do have a kickass eggtimer now. It rings extra-long. Here's hoping it won't take a dive off the top of my fridge like the previous one did.

My pal llouys and I have set each other another writing challenge. We're each going to write a surreal pr0n piece of a certain amount of words, which will start with individuals in a parade. Then we'll swap off and continue the other's piece. I wonder how long we can do this for. It should be fun.
ps. as an example of surreal pr0n, I...

That actually sounds like a really good exersize.
You're the 3rd person to hit on my friend by proxy. If I didn't think she's be creeped out by people she doesn't know lusting over her, I'd tell her in an instant
I've been checking Katie's site waiting to hear about thier anniversery weekend, but it's still not up. I figure things are OK, because I've called a couple times since then, and while I wasn't able to talk to her, the nurses said she was spending time with her parents. Maybe Angie just haven't had time to do a proper update yet. I mean the code on that site isn't the most stable in the world. It crashes all the time when I'm commenting.

Still forcing myself to continue reading Marcel Proust's In Search of Lost Time series. I'm midway through volume III. At 750-800 pages each, it's a commitment. Only three more volumes to go.
Surly keeps marvelling over why I continue to slog through. I'm not 100 per cent sure I can describe why myself. I do know that every 20-30 pages of snore inducing aristocratic Society...
