"When bad vibrations are all around
When your house is upside-down
And you've waited for something much, much too long
Here's a funky little way to help yourself along

Ding dong, funky little song
Everything's up and nothing is down
Everything's so right and nothing could be wrong
Now that we've got a funky little song"

-Funky Little Song by Bruce Haack

I'm in an awesome mood tonight. It feels like I'm come out of some dimly lit grey place, all old styrofoam and plastic seats and waiting, into a wide open space of bright possibility.

Sheer chance has led me to talking with a man on the Canadian west coast who is quite something. He's a classically trained musician who composes. He races bikes competitively. He is a chef. This is HUGE, he's studying the field I've been interested in for ages: mechanical engineering and robotics.
ROBOTICS! *dances around*

robot robot robot robot robot

He's my age. I've been blown away talking to him. I confess to feeling envy. I've taken this all as a cosmic kick in the ass to pursue my dreams. He's buying a house and suggesting I might consider renting from him. I'm not sure about where I'd try to go study. I do believe that he has come into my life right now for a reason. I've spent the last three years feeling so beaten down and aging and lost. I've aged 10 years in three, when before people thought I had some sort of Picture of Dorian Gray thing going on.

I hate my monotonous hamsterwheel of a job, which pays just enough to keep me entrapped. It challenges me in no way whatsoever. It's routine. Routine kills me. I crave chaos and novelty.

Coincidentally enough, my mother has told me she wants to give me part of my inheritance which would likely cover a couple years of tuition.

I guess I need to go and take an competency exam and see which areas I need to upgrade (math and physics are givens). I think that would be my first step. robot

Oh and I just heard a national radio special on this amazing but obscure electronic music pioneer and a documentary currently being filmed about him. Bruce Haack - robot music!

He's Canadian! smile

aha - i can totally relate to that.... i feel like i have been put through the ringer so to speak at different times in my life and i think that the past year has been something of that nature...... i have lost focus in school - life - what my goals are anymore - whether or not i will ever find love again - blah blah blah.

of course the plus side to this is that i feel i am coming out of that funk - so that is good. i now have motivation to finish some projects that i started over 2 years ago - i am going to go for a BFA - and might even change schools to find a better art program - i have been meeting some new people - finally - going out more and socializing (which can be good ar bad depending) and just overall been dealing with some of the demons that have been haunting me.

sounds like you met a great person - never take them for granted - those good people that come into our lives.

here's to hoping that your night went well and that you have a good sunday..........cheers!
