I got back from LA late last night as my flight was diverted due to severe electrical storms. There's something mildly disquieting about taking off with lightning forking off in the distance.
It was great seeing surly and his mom (she was in town visiting). We did some sightseeing (toured the Queen Mary) and hung out. It was a good time all in all.
Surly and I managed to go see an immigration lawyer a friend of ours recommended. The visit dashed our hopes of getting married in November. It just wouldn't work. I'm glad we talked to a lawyer and found out it was a bad idea before we embarked on it though. I'm not sure how people deal with these things without a lawyer. It boggles the mind.
Essentially though while our marriage has been postponed a little, it seems that in the long run my dream of living with surlyclown will come true a lot quicker than I thought. Yay for lawyers!

BTW we now have 2 new dogs at that site a Doberman and a German Shepard, see devil was worth 2 dogs.
