I watched John Carpenter's The Thing tonight. I enjoyed it, but I had a creepy real life parallel when I had to clean up one of my guinea pigs afterwards. He's really old and he has a tumor. As I was cleaning the bits he can't get to anymore I couldn't help wincing and feeling my skin crawling every time my fingers brushed the lump.

Poor Pig. I noticed the growth under his arm a few months ago and had the vet take a sample to analyze. At the time she said it was a fatty lump, but it might have a tumor inside it. It seems it is a tumor as it's just been getting bigger.

He's so old he wouldn't survive the anaesthesia if I tried to have it removed. So far he doesn't seem to be in any pain, no crying and still has an appetite. Oddly it seems like his arthritis hasn't been that bad lately.

I haven't got the heart to put him down if he still seems to be enjoying his life, though if I were to compare the relative size of his lump if it were on me, it would be bigger than a basketball. frown

That's pretty big. But, like you said, he's probably oblivious to it. The Thing was pretty good for its time. I remember some of the freaky visuals. Or more like I can't forget some of the freaky visuals.
