You know how your mother would tell you not to read scary comics or such before bed? Well, I dreamt about The Thing all night.

In other news, it seems my bed is trying to make amends before I turf it. I've actually been finding it moderately comfortable. robot

I watched John Carpenter's The Thing tonight. I enjoyed it, but I had a creepy real life parallel when I had to clean up one of my guinea pigs afterwards. He's really old and he has a tumor. As I was cleaning the bits he can't get to anymore I couldn't help wincing and feeling my skin crawling every time my fingers brushed the lump....

That's pretty big. But, like you said, he's probably oblivious to it. The Thing was pretty good for its time. I remember some of the freaky visuals. Or more like I can't forget some of the freaky visuals.

poor piggy...let him live as he is as long as there seems to be no pain..That's all you can do really...

Today was *quite* something. I'm ready to crawl into a hole and sleep for a few centuries. Of course my hole would still have my crappy bed and I'd probably sleep badly. C'mon Saturday and my new bed.

My workday was filled with botch ups, angry people and just general stress. I think this might be somewhat related to it being the deadline for mailing...

Off to look at beds today. My mother is buying me a bed. While this makes me feel very juvenile, I'm grateful for her offer.

I'm also going to look at airconditioners. Surly may be visiting me this summer, and our weather gets up over 100.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, even though I probably shouldn't, I'm going to pick up D&D Online....

I can picture you whistle like a naughty schoolboy over your D&D habit. You scamp, you.

Far as I cn tell, driving on LA freeways generally involves bringing your own bed anyway biggrin

I've have not been sleeping well lately. I wake up 4 or 5 times a night, and I have nightmares. I know I need a new bed. Surly can attest to just how horrible my current bed is. I made him sleep on the sproingy part apparently. whatever

My final dream of last night involved a dark wood/town and evil emanating from a garden surrounding a...

Sproingy bits? Oh my...

I am glad I didn't have that dream. It reminds me of a nightmare about firemen I had several times when I was a kid; which I could never explain to my dad, because he'd never have been able to deal with him being the bad person in it. (It wasn't him, actually. It took me thirty years to work out who it was. skull )
fred:

haha, it took me a while to get your "did your nutsack lose it shoes too" reference.

Try some vitamin C and gingko biloba before bed sometime. I notice it makes my dreams more vivid, but not necessarily bad.

I woke up just now after only 5 hours sleep. I'm feeling sort of psychically ickky. Do you ever open your eyes to your life for a moment and go, whoah, what am I doing here? I just did that and can't sleep now. I thought about things I'd done. It's not that I feel guilty, it's more like I feel like a snake with...

Hm. Now I have to figure out a new route to click all my SG Friends' names once and once only, without crossing over the string, and still reading llouys' journal last.

Maybe I am taking this too seriously.

I hope you are feeling more rested.

I just watched a movie from 1947 which still has resonance: Gentleman's Agreement.

It was a treat seeing Dean Stockwell as a child. I didn't even know he had a successful career as a child actor. robot

Hey there sweetie, I just got caught up w/ your journal. Congratulations on your engagement!!! You guys make me cry; I get all warm and fuzzy inside just thinking about how you found each other and how happy you are!
I was very saddened to hear about surly's father, but glad that he has the joy of YOU to help him through this.
(Also congrats for paying off that credit card! That's a huge accomplishment!!! biggrin)
Oh, and a big hello, with a smile and a little puddle splash, just for you!

I love that your "virginity" question on your profile is broken into genders. I've always thought that I have one virginity story, but now that I think about it... I have two!! love

Today was a sunny spring day, so I went for a long walk and thought about surlyclown and his family. My specified goal was to drop off my rent cheque but the mail slot isn't accessible on the weekends apparently. I stopped at an oldfashioned candy store and bought a handful of chocolate covered almonds and chocolate espresso beans instead, cuz paying bills and eating...

Oh thank you for that compliment...esp seeing as my hair is fuschia, I just try to stay on top of being UBERCLASSY. I love how the word ass is in that, tasty.

Ferd is doing well actually. I woke up with him under my shoulder and Eduardo the Ebola under my ass. I'm sure there is something to that, but I really do not think I want to know. wink

surlyclown's father passed away early this morning. He'd been ill for awhile and he went peacefully. He was a good man with a great big heart and generosity enough for two. He will be missed.

best to you as well during this difficult time! how wonderful that you are there for sweet surly, and that you got to meet the man who made him the man he is. both seem like truly wonderful people. and to agree with the above, the gift of saying goodbye is a wonderful thing. the gift of your time spent together with his father will be something you two care share for a lifetime. love to you!

Spring feels like it's about to happen. I've been walking around with no gloves or scarf the past couple days.

It's always such an up and down time of year for me. It feels like all of the years collapse into an eternal present, the same smells and emotions. I think about all of the other springs and all the people I used to be...
